Since its modest beginnings in a "charming" little house on National Avenue, KSMU Radio has been dedicated to quality. KSMU, the region’s NPR member station, signed on the air in 1974 with the same mission we pursue today – to encourage audiences to explore ideas and to deepen our shared understanding of what it means to be an engaged citizen of our community.
Sharing the Gift of Sight through Sound. The Audio-Reader Network is an audio information service for individuals who are blind, visually impaired, or print disabled, throughout Kansas and western Missouri. We provide accessible audio versions of newspapers, magazines and books on the air, over the internet, by telephone and via smartspeakers, 24 hours a day. Services are free of charge to anyone who is unable to read standard printed material.
